How to create yourself a capsule wardrobe

Do you often open the doors to your Hampshire Fitted Wardrobes that you purchased from and find yourself staring aimlessly at all of the clothes that are hanging up inside wondering which of your tens of dresses or skirts you are going to wear to work? This is a problem that faces many people each morning and without being stereotypical this usually affects more women than it does men. One of the best ways to alleviate this kind of frustration from your mornings is to create yourself a capsule wardrobe. This can be equally effective for men as it is for women.

A capsule wardrobe is the bare minimum amount of clothes that you can survive with that create an almost limitless number of combinations with each other. The colours and styles of the clothes you have in your capsule wardrobe all complement each other.

The idea is that you remove all the items from your wardrobe and replace them one by one looking at how they match and work with other items in their an see how many combinations of outfits you can create from the minimum amount of clothes. It is particularly useful to do for your work clothing.  One of the first things you should do is replace any items that are for special occasions or any uniform as these are items that you will want to keep separate from the rest of your capsule creations.

Here are a few tips for starting your capsule wardrobe journey:

  • You can store out of season clothing and create yourself a capsule wardrobe that contains clothing that is suitable for the time of year. This is good for people who have a large amount of clothes and are slightly reluctant to recycle too many of them.
  • A capsule wardrobe doesn’t have to mean the end of your love for clothing. It is thought that around 50 pieces of clothing is enough to create a capsule wardrobe, although you can create one with significant less than this. The aim of the process is to help ensure that you are wearing clothes each day that not only suit you and that you are comfortable in, but that bring you happiness. There is no point wearing something that you feel uncomfortable in, as this will show in the way your body language is displayed on that day.
